Throughout human history, the beating of the drum has been used as a healing tool in all of the world's cultures. What was known to the ancients-is that rhythm can HEAL. One thing is clear: drumming captures the heart of most who encounter it. In the last few years, the popularity of drumming has spread .Drum circles have sprung up across the country, in cities and small towns, meeting monthly or weekly.People from all walks of life have embraced the drum as a fixture in their lives. What is it about the drum that inspires, energizes, brings people together?
There are many levels to consider. First there's the simple fact that drumming is FUN. What child has not discovered this, banging with joyful abandon upon pots and pans, or tapping with pencils on desk or table top?
Drumming also has powerful physiological effects. Most obviously, sustained drumming increases the heart rate and blood flow, resulting in the "high" common to any aerobic exercise. Drumming is excellent at fighting & reducing STRESS. We now know that stress is a cause of 98% of all disease. Recent biofeedback studies show that drumming along with our own heartbeats for brief periods can alter brain wave patterns and "meditate" us, dramatically reducing stress.
The growing drumming movement in this country suggests that people are beginning to reclaim themselves as they drum. The drum is emerging as the transformational tool of our time. Because the drumbeat is a universal, vibrational language which communicates with the Earth and our deeper selves.
We are a vibrating medium made up of pulse, form and wave. When you realize that you are constantly emanating and receiving pulse, you can begin to reorientate yourself towards vibration. Therefore, awareness of your own rhythm, and receiving, rhythm assists our personal healing abilities to do what they're intended to do: rejuvenate and replenish us, give us creativity, inspiration, health and the desire to continue living in a positive way along with others in our lives,
Sessions based on these principles are available, for more information on this go to our other site Rhythm Healing where there is more detailed information and also a mailing list you can join.
